Kill Team `24: Spec Ops Missions and Cards

    This is the second part of the Kill Team `24 Spec Ops series. In this post, we will cover the Spec Ops Missions and Cards that are available for the game.

    As part of a Narrative Campaign, players can choose a Spec Ops Mission to be completed over the course of several games. A Spec Ops Mission features a series of Spec Ops which are used along side Tac Ops to score Victory Points. A Spec Op can only be completed once per game, and its VP counts as a TacOp VP for the purposes of scoring limitations.

    Spec Ops Mission

    ELIMINATION

    Intelligence reports confirm multiple hostile kill teams converging on this strategic sector. Their presence threatens to destabilize your faction's supply lines and staging areas. Your operatives must strike decisively - first to disrupt their reconnaissance efforts, then to methodically dismantle their chain of command. Every hour they remain entrenched makes their position stronger. Failure is not an option.

    OPERATION 1: DRAW THEM OUT

    Your operatives must strike from the shadows - gathering vital data on enemy commanders, weakening their forces through calculated attacks, and orchestrating the perfect moment to spring your trap.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Mark Target’, ‘Execution’ and/or ‘Rob and Ransack’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: NEUTRALISE TARGET

    The enemy leadership is exposed and their forces are scattered. Now is the time to deliver the killing blow. Your mission is clear - hunt down and eliminate their commander. Only their death will ensure our dominance in this sector.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Headhunter’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain one Requisition point.
    • The friendly operative that scored you victory points from the ‘Headhunter’ Spec Op earns 5 XP. This is not affected by a passed Casualty test.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash, or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    RECOVER ARCHEOTECH

    Whispers speak of an ancient technological relic of immense power buried in this region. Your kill team must verify these claims and secure this priceless archeotech before it falls into enemy hands. Command considers this acquisition paramount.

    OPERATION 1: INVESTIGATE SITES

    Scan the surrounding structures methodically for energy signatures. By gathering enough trace readings, your kill team can pinpoint the archeotech's exact location in this maze of ruins.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Seize Ground’ and/or ‘Vantage’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: RETRIEVE ARCHEOTECH

    The archeotech's location is confirmed. Strike now, while your foes remain ignorant of its true potential. Seize the relic and ensure its safe delivery to command at all costs.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Retrieval’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain three Requisition points.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash, or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    PERFORM RITUAL

    The conflict escalates, draining blood and materiel with each passing day. Your kill team must enact an intricate series of rites to harness the powers that will ensure triumph.

    OPERATION 1: COMMENCE RITES

    Each sacred ceremony must be performed with precision. Guard your ritualists as they work - any interference from hostile forces could unravel everything you've prepared.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Hold the Line’ and/or ‘Protect Assets’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: COMPLETE RITUAL

    The preliminary rites are complete. Execute the final ritual with unwavering resolve, and unleash the power that will break your enemies.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Plant Banner’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain one Requisition point.
    • The friendly operative that scored you victory points from the ‘Plant Banner’ Spec Op earns 5 XP. This is not affected by a passed Casualty test.
    • You can distribute 5 XP across the other operatives on your roster.
    Spec Ops Mission

    DEMOLITION

    Enemy forces have transformed this sector into an impenetrable fortress. Direct assault would be futile. Your kill team must destabilize their defenses from within, turning their stronghold into their tomb.

    OPERATION 1: PLANT CHARGES

    Critical structural weaknesses have been identified throughout their defense network. Infiltrate their territory and place demolition charges at these vital points to ensure total collapse.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Plant Signal Beacon’ and/or ‘Sabotage’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: DETONATE

    The explosives are primed but enemy jammers block remote detonation. Your kill team must breach their perimeter one final time to trigger the charges at point-blank range.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Upload Viral Code’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain three Requisition points.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    INFILTRATE THE ENEMY

    Your foes possess superior numbers and firepower, but they have a weakness - their own complexity. High command requires your kill team to exploit this through infiltration, destroying them from the inside.

    OPERATION 1: GATHER INTELLIGENCE

    Gather everything needed for perfect deception: enemy gear, security protocols, patrol schedules, and base layouts. Your operative's cover must be flawless to penetrate their ranks.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Rob and Ransack’, ‘Implant’ and/or ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: PLANT OPERATIVE

    The groundwork is laid and the plan is set. Your operative will now slip into the enemy's ranks like a blade between armor plates, ready to strike at the perfect moment.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Interloper’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain one Requisition point.
    • The friendly operative that scored you victory points from the ‘Interloper’ Spec Op earns 5 XP. This is not affected by a passed Casualty test.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash, or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    PURGE ORDER

    There can be no ambiguity in your message of strength. Your kill team's directive is clear - unleash devastating force and eliminate every enemy operative without mercy.

    OPERATION 1: No Prisoners

    Secure your position and draw out the enemy kill teams into the open. Once they are exposed, launch an overwhelming assault that leaves no survivor to tell the tale.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Deadly Marksman’, ‘Rob and Ransack’ and/or ‘Execution’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: ROUT

    As your enemies stagger from your onslaught, hammer them without respite until they shatter. True dominance is achieved only when their defeat is absolute.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Rout’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain one Requisition point.
    • You can distribute 5 XP across the operatives on your roster.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash, or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    BREAKOUT

    Cut off from support and deep in hostile territory, your kill team faces a harrowing journey home. Every step must be measured, every engagement calculated, as survival depends on both valor and wit.

    OPERATION 1: ON THE RUN

    Through contested zones crawling with enemy kill teams, your operatives must forge a path to extraction. Speed is essential - lingering means death.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Overrun’, ‘Vantage’ or ‘Triangulate’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: LAST DASH TO SAFETY

    The sanctuary of friendly lines beckons, but exhaustion weighs heavy on your team. Despite their fatigue, they must summon their remaining strength for one final push to salvation.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ or ‘Interloper’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain three Requisition points.
    • After the battle, all friendly operatives pass Casualty and Recovery tests.
    Spec Ops Mission

    EXTRACTION

    A critical asset has fallen into your kill team's hands - intelligence, technology, or a high-value target. The enemy will stop at nothing to claim this prize, and you must endure their onslaught until reinforcements arrive.

    OPERATION 1: SECURE EXTRACTION POINT

    Your operatives must locate and fortify a position that can withstand the coming storm. The asset must be protected, regardless of the cost in blood.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Hold the Line’ and/or ‘Damage Limitation’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: EXFIL

    Enemy kill teams press in from every direction, threatening to overwhelm your defenses. The extraction craft approaches - your warriors need only survive these final, brutal moments.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Seize Ground’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain one Requisition point.
    • After the battle, all friendly operatives pass Casualty and Recovery tests.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash, or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    HONOUR-BOUND

    Whether through past disgrace or the schemes of those who wish you ill, your kill team faces a mission that borders on impossible. Though survival seems unlikely, triumph against these odds would transform shame into glory.

    OPERATION 1: PURSUE ATONEMENT

    Your operatives face a binary choice: achieve victory or embrace death. Though the task seems insurmountable, they must face each challenge unflinching. Their honor will accept no alternative.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Execution’, ‘Headhunter’ or ‘Rout’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: GLORY AND VINDICATION

    Standing at the precipice of redemption, your kill team can glimpse salvation. In these final moments, a hero must emerge to wash away their disgrace and carve their name into martial legend.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Challenge’ Spec Op.

    Commendations

    • You gain one Requisition point.
    • The friendly operative that scored you victory points from the ‘Challenge’ Spec Op earns 5 XP. This is not affected by a passed Casualty test.
    • You can distribute 5 XP across the other operatives on your roster.
    Spec Ops Mission

    SECURE DISTRICT

    A strategic location lies vulnerable, and your kill team must secure it before the enemy can strip it bare. Until reinforcements arrive, you alone stand between these vital resources and the scavengers who would claim them.

    OPERATION 1: Drive Them Back

    When enemy raiders emerge from the shadows, your kill team must respond with immediate and decisive force to protect what you've claimed.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Protect Assets’ and/or ‘Plant Banner’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: Stand Your Ground

    Days of constant skirmishes have taken their toll on your weary operatives, but they cannot falter. Relief forces approach - your warriors need only maintain their vigil a while longer.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Central Control’ Spec Op.

    • You gain three Requisition points.
    • You can add one item of rare equipment to your stash, or you can increase your asset capacity by one.
    Spec Ops Mission

    ELIMINATE OBSTACLE

    (Eulicidian Starstriders only) [For the purposes of a mission’s Spec Ops bonus, this Spec Op is considered an ‘Elimination’ Spec Op.] Your benefactor's trade empire faces obstruction, and peaceful negotiation has failed. The Rogue Trader demands a complete solution: the rival's influence must be systematically dismantled through force, finance, and fear.

    OPERATION 1: Remove Support

    While economic pressure mounts in the trading halls, your kill team strikes from the shadows at the enemy's power base, eliminating key allies and leaving their backers vulnerable to both bankruptcy and blade.

    Complete five games in which you scored victory points from the ‘Claim for House Vhane’, ‘Reputation to Maintain’ and/or ‘Challenge’ Spec Op.
    OPERATION 2: FINAL BLOW

    The rival's empire crumbles as their supporters flee or fall. Now your kill team moves to deliver the coup de grace, ensuring your patron's dominance in the sector.

    Complete a game in which you scored victory points from the ‘Headhunter’ Tac Op

    Commendations

    • The friendly operative that scored you victory points from the ‘Headhunter’ Tac/Spec Op earns up to 5XP. This is not affected by a passed Casualty test.
    • You can distribute up to 5XP across the other operatives on your dataslate. This is not affected by a passed Casualty test.
    • After the battle, all friendly operatives pass Casualty and Recovery tests.

    BEHIND ENEMY LINES
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. If one or more friendly operatives are wholly within your opponent’s drop zone and more than 3" from enemy operatives, you score 1VP.

    CAPTURE HOSTAGE & INFILTRATE
    You can reveal this Spec Op when an enemy operative is incapacitated by a friendly operative within 2" of it, and that friendly operative is more than 6" from other enemy operatives. Remove that friendly operative from the killzone and you score 1VP.

    CHAMPION
    Reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of the first Turning Point. Select one enemy operative and one friendly operative. If that enemy operative is incapacitated by that friendly operative, you score 1VP. This is an alternate version of the Champion Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    CONTAIN
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point after the first. At the end of any Turning Point, if there are no enemy operatives within 6" of your drop zone, you score 1VP. This is an alternate version of the Contain Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    DAMAGE LIMITATION
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point after the first. At the end of any Turning Point, if no friendly operatives were incapacitated during that Turning Point, you score 1VP.

    DEADLY MARKSMAN
    After selecting this Spec Op, secretly select one friendly operative to be your Marksman. You can reveal this Spec Op when an enemy operative is incapacitated by a shooting attack made by your Marksman while your Marksman is wholly within 3" of your drop zone. If any other enemy operatives are incapacitated by another shooting attack made by your Marksman, you score 1VP. You need two kills total with the marksman to score the VP)

    EXECUTION
    Reveal this Spec Op at the end of any Turning Point in which more enemy operatives than friendly operatives were incapacitated during that Turning Point. At the end of the battle, if more enemy operatives than friendly operatives were incapacitated during two or more Turning Points, you score 1VP.

    HEADHUNTER
    Reveal this Spec Op when an enemy LEADER operative is incapacitated. You score 1VP.

    IMPLANT
    You can reveal this Spec Op when you would strike an enemy operative in a combat. Instead of inflicting damage on an enemy operative from that strike, you can implant that operative instead. That operative does not lose any wounds from that strike and you score 1VP. This is an alternate version of the Implant Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    INTERLOPER
    After selecting this Spec Op, secretly select one friendly operative to be your interloper. You must reveal this Spec Op when your interloper performs the Interlope action. Remove your interloper from the killzone and score 2VPs. Your interloper can perform the following mission action once: INTERLOPE - 1AP Perform this action while within 1" of an enemy killzone edge and more than 3" from enemy operatives.

    MARK TARGET
    You can reveal this Spec Op when a friendly operative performs a Shoot action. When an enemy LEADER operative is selected as the target of a shooting attack for a Shoot action, and no other shooting attacks are made for that action, you can attempt to mark that operative instead. Complete the shooting sequence as normal, except that if any damage would be inflicted on that enemy operative, it does not lose any wounds and you score 1VP.

    OVERRUN
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. If an enemy operative is incapacitated by a friendly operative that is within 6" of your opponent’s drop zone, you score 1VP. This is an alternate version of the Overrun Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    PLANT BANNER
    After selecting this Spec Op, secretly select one friendly operative to be carrying your Banner token. Reveal this Spec Op when that operative drops your Banner token. When you do, until the end of the battle, the Pick Up action can be performed by friendly operatives upon your Banner token. At the end of the battle, if your Banner token is within 6" of but not wholly within your opponent’s drop zone, you score 1VP. Operatives can perform the following mission action: DESTROY BANNER - 1AP An operative can perform this action while within 1" of the centre of an opponent’s Banner token. Remove that Banner token from the killzone. An operative cannot perform this action while within 2" of enemy operatives.

    PLANT SIGNAL BEACON
    You must reveal this Spec Op when a friendly operative performs the Plant Signal Beacon action. At the end of the battle, if your signal beacon token is within 6" of your opponent's drop zone, you score 1VP. Once per battle, a friendly operative can perform the following mission action: PLANT SIGNAL BEACON - 2AP Place a signal beacon token within 1" of this operative. An operative cannot perform this action while within 2" of enemy operatives. If any enemy operatives finish a move within 1" of the centre of your signal beacon token and more than 2" from friendly operatives, remove that signal beacon token. This is an alternate version of the Plant Beacons Spec Op. If you use the Spec Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    PROTECT ASSETS
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. At the end of any Turning Point, if two or more enemy operatives were incapacitated while within 2" of an objective marker during that Turning Point, and/or while carrying an objective during that Turning Point, you score 1VP.

    RETRIEVAL
    Reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of the first Turning Point. Your opponent places your Retrieval token anywhere in the killzone that is not on a Vantage Point and not wholly within or within 3" of their drop zone. The Pick Up action can be performed by friendly operatives upon your Retrieval token. At the end of the battle, if a friendly operative controls your Retrieval token, you score 1VP.This is an alternate version of the Recover Items Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    ROB AND RANSACK
    You can reveal this Spec Op when an enemy operative is incapacitated by a friendly operative within 1" of it, and that friendly operative is more than 3" from other enemy operatives. You score 1VP. This is an alternate version of the Rob And Ransack Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    SABOTAGE
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. If a terrain feature is sabotaged by friendly operatives, you score 1VP. Friendly operatives can perform the following mission action: SABOTAGE - 2AP An operative can perform this action while within 1" of a terrain feature that includes any parts with the Heavy trait that is wholly within or within 6" of your opponent’s drop zone that has not been sabotaged by friendly operatives. An operative cannot perform this action while within of enemy operatives. If this action is performed by friendly operatives, that terrain feature has been sabotaged by friendly operatives.

    SECURE CENTRE
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. At the end of any Turning Point, if the total APL of friendly operatives within 3" of the centre of the killzone is greater than that of enemy operatives, you score 1VP. This is an alternate version of the Secure Centre Tac Op. If you use the Tac Op, you do not have to use this Spec Op. The normal TacOp will count towards the Spec Op Mission.

    SEIZE GROUND
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. At the end of any Turning Point, if a friendly operative is wholly within each killzone quarter and more than 3" from the centre of the killzone, you score 1VP.

    SEIZE TERRAIN
    Reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of the first Turning Point. Select one terrain feature that is more than 3" from your drop zone and includes any parts with the Heavy trait. At the end of the battle, if the total APL of friendly operatives within 1" of that terrain feature is greater than that of enemy operatives, you score 1VP.

    TRIANGULATE
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. If two killzone edges are triangulated by friendly operatives, you score 1VP. Friendly operatives can perform the following mission action: TRIANGULATE - 1AP An operative can perform this action while within 3" of a killzone edge that is not your own killzone edge and has not been triangulated by friendly operatives. An operative cannot perform this action while within 2" of enemy operatives. If this action is performed by a friendly operative, that killzone edge has been triangulated by friendly operatives.

    UPLOAD VIRAL CODE
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. If a friendly operative performs the Upload Viral Code action, you score 1VP. Friendly operatives can perform the following mission action: UPLOAD VIRAL CODE - 2AP An operative can perform this action while within 6" of your opponent’s drop zone and not within 2" of enemy operatives.

    VANTAGE
    You can reveal this Spec Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point. If a friendly operative performs the Vantage action, you score 1VP. Friendly operatives can perform the following mission action: VANTAGE - 2AP An operative can perform this action while on a Vantage Point that is not within your drop zone and has not been secured by friendly operatives. An operative cannot perform this action while within 2" of enemy operatives. If this action is performed by friendly operatives, that Vantage Point has been secured by friendly operatives.
